The summer is turning out to be a truly memorable one for Team India abroad. Aditya Sushant and Nipun Java’s WSOP bracelet win aside, there have been multiple cashes at the WSOP from our industry stalwarts. But, quietly dominating the scenes closer to home, are a group of players contesting the ACOP Platinum Series and APT Macau. Away from the limelight of the WSOP, these players have already won a staggering 2 competitions at the APT Macau and have now added a first at the ACOP (Asia Championship of Poker) through Zarvan Tumboli.

Zarvan Tumboli

Zarvan Tumboli is on a run of a lifetime as he added yet another international title to his resume. He took down Event #4 $3,000 NLH title for HK$50,554 (~INR 4.17 Lakhs). In doing so he outlasted a total of 66 entries. The final prizepool in the event reached  $172,854.

Tumboli defeated Yiu Heung of Hong Kong in the final heads-up battle to take home the title. In describing the final hand, Tumboli said, “I had a 3:1 chip lead over him and [sic] last hand of the tournament was he opened and I shoved . Get called with KT offsuit. The board saw 9x 9x Qx 8x 2x.”

“The trophy is sweeter than the money! Thank you lord and everybody for the wishes and railings,” Tumboli posted on social media after the win!

Incidentally, Tumboli had made yet another deep run in an earlier event in the ACOP Platinum Series. He finished in third place and agonizingly missed out on the title in Event #2 Megastack. The HK$4000 Megastack tournament had a bigger pool of 150 players and Tumboli took home HK$56,000 of the HK$523,800 prize.

The ACOP, which began on 23rd June, is scheduled to run till 2nd July.In all, it features 15 official Asia Player of the Year events.
