Former co-owner of Full Tilt Poker, Chris ‘Jesus’ Ferguson won his 6th career WSOP bracelet at the World Series of Poker Europe in King’s Casino in Rozvadov. The victory came in Event #7 €1,650 PLO Hi-Lo 8 or Better, earning him €39,289 and further extending his lead in the Player of the Year race.

Prior to the event, Ferguson had cashed in 5 tournaments at this year’s WSOPE, adding to his record-breaking performance in the World Series of Poker in July where he recorded the most cashes ever (17). The controversial poker pro looks set to claim the POY award for 2017 with a new-found level of consistency.

Ferguson began the final day of the event in 8th position out of 18 runners and did not score a single knockout as he made his way to the final table. He, however, picked up the pace after a slow start by eliminating Rex Clinkscales in fifth place ($9,925 USD). Ferguson followed that up by busting both Eldert Soer (4th – $13,681 USD) and Stanislav Wright (3rd – $19,430 USD) to take a huge chip lead into heads-up play against Ukrainian Stanislav Wright.

The chip disadvantage proved too much for Wright to surmount with both players getting it in on the final hand on a flop of    with Ferguson holding     against Wright’s    . The turn and river brought  and  giving Ferguson his 6th bracelet.

It’s kind of surreal because I wasn’t expecting to win this bracelet at all. I was just trying to sneak in, just trying to advance a little bit. And it just kind of happened. It’s the best way,” Ferguson told reporters after.

Having already won a €10,000 buy-in for the WSOPE Main Event, Ferguson will now by vying to secure the $10,000 buy-in into the 2018 WSOP Main Event, which will be awarded to the winner of the POY.

In addition to the WSOPE Main Event, the remaining WSOPE schedule still includes events like the €111,111 buy-in High Roller for One Drop.
