7 Indian poker players are representing their land at the 28th edition of MPC, viz. Aditya Agarwal, Abhisek Panda, Nathan Rao, Vidwath Shetty, Vinay BK, Vivek Rughani and Sriharsha Doddapaneni. These Indian poker jewels were seen representing India at the MPC 28 Baby Dragon Event and they also got qualified for the Day 2 of the Event.

Although throughout the event Vinay had the lowest stacks among the Indian players, he performed really well on Day 2, finishing at the final table and bagging a prize money of HKD 331,000 (~₹27.1 lakh) after he secured the fourth place. Aditya Agarwal had an impressive stack at the beginning of day 2 but he got busted at the 92nd position for HKD 16,000 (~₹1.3 lakh).

The Dragon Event MPC 28 started on 2nd February and lasted till the 4th of February with an initial buy-in of HKD 8000. 818 entries lead to a total prize pool of HKD 5,712,912. China’s Siyou Cao shipped the tournament and earned HKD 1.2 million for the top prize. Mike Tamayama secured the 2nd position at the event, taking HKD 743000.

After his win, Cao said, “I’m happy to win, then after I realised that there was an extra US$30,000 added to the prize pool with the Platinum Pass I was even more excited.”

Unfortunately Vinay BK, though having chip lead at the beginning, got eliminated at the 4th place. His A-Q was defeated by Guacheng Chen’s pocket Jacks. This is what Vinay said after the game, “It was my first international poker experience, so I was super pumped up for the events. The venue is superb; beating a field of 800+ and finishing fourth is a great feeling. Although while we play, we don’t really think of it that way. We break it down, level by level, hour by hour and day by day. But really, truly a great poker destination for any serious player. It was also my biggest score live or online so it definetly helps me in building my bankroll and looking forward to future events as well.”

It is a great news that Indians are able to showcase their talents on prestigious international platforms. The hope is that, the upcoming events of the underway MPC28 would witness similar participation from Indian players with, possibly, even better results.
