Bellagio Poker room was robbed at gunpoint by an armed stranger single-handedly, late afternoon on Tuesday. The culprit has not yet been identified and the authorities are still searching for him as of late Tuesday night US Western time.

According to a local report, the attack occurred a little after 3:45 p.m. and involved a lone robber with a mask and a handgun. The suspect demanded money and then fled in a silver Chevy Cruze with Nevada license plates reading 37D147.

Noted mixed game player and Bracelet winner Randy Ohel was one of the very first to report about this mishap through his twitter handle. Apparently, he visited the casino right after the robbery and showed up for a cash game. Going by Ohel’s words, the culprit had successfully looted quite a lot of money (the amount not known) from the cashier’s drawer and made his way via the valet on the north side of the casino, facing Flamingo road. Ohel also believes that the whole incident took place too rapidly to cause any life threat to anyone.

Doyle Brunson also reportedly happened to be present at the crime scene during the robbery. According to him, the high stakes rooms too had a lot of cash, approximately $200,000, that went untouched.

James Wood appreciated the Bellagio staff for their cool-headedness. He praised their presence of mind in such an adverse situation, claiming the staff did not panic and handed over the money calmly to ensure the security of clients who were unaware that the casino was being robbed.

The Las Vegas police has a very vague description of the culprit – a white man who drove away in a vehicle after robbing the casino.
