Richard Yong has shipped the Triton HKD$250,000 6-Max Event for the champion’s trophy and $388,024. The event was a part of the Super High Roller Series currently being held in Budva, Montenegro. Yong defeated Steve O’Dwyer at the heads-up to secure the winner’s title for himself.

Last year, this Malaysian Businessman lost the winner’s place to Manig Loeser and cashed  $1,441,797 as the 1st runner-up. But, just within a year, he accomplished his farsighted goal.

“On the Malaysian ranking, I am the first and he is the second,” he joked after his victory, adding: “Yes, I am feeling good, very happy that everybody joined my tournament, and I had a lot of fun. It has been a long time since I played full decks and I forgot how to play.”

Players like Stefan Schillhabel, Steffen Sontheimer, Dietrich Fast, Christian Christner, Manig Loeser and Dominik Nitsche, played at the event but couldn’t make it to the top 6 and thus did not win any prize money.

The felt was difficult because the likes of Isaac Haxton and Steve O’Dwyer, had to be railed or busted to reach the mark.

Yong fought hard and skilfully against his famous opponent heads-up, and eventually a superior flopped two pair sealed the deal, Yong having earlier bitten off a big bluff to give him the chip lead.

With this win, Yong’s career achievements have reached to  $7,871,643. It is to be mentioned that now, his poker pro son, Wai Kin Yong, is behind his dad by $4 million and a position, at the summit of the all-time Malaysian money-winners list.
