I’m very excited to win the largest-ever Red Dragon Main Event; it’s one thing I can now cross off my bucket list,” stated the euphoric victor. Qiuming Qin won the prestigious Red Dragon event at the Macau Poker Cup (MPC) 27, claiming  HK$3.14 million, a package to the ACOP Main Event worth HK$100K to go with the title.

Qin was up against Terrence Wu, a  fitness model and recreational player from Hong Kong. Wu won HK$2.4 million for his second place finish.

It could all have finished rather differently though with the 2 finalists exchanging the chip lead numerous times before Qin’s victory. In the end, after a 10 hours long final table, Wu called Qin’s all-in with   on a board of   . Qin however was safely in the lead and showed   for a double pair. The hand held and Qin claimed the Red Dragon trophy while Wu, who had never played outside of a home game with colleagues, took home his largest bankroll till date.

Big Draw for the Red Dragon

The Red Dragon event was held at PokerStars LIVE Macau from Sep 3 through Sep 8 and pulled a massive 1,308 player-field.  The Red Dragon was the HK$15,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em main event at the MPC with a guaranteed prize pool of HK$10 million this year.

Four Indian players managed to make a mark in the Red Dragon among a large contingent which had made it to Macau for the series amidst a typhoon. Ankush Prasad (10th) performed the best of the lot while Pradeep Nudurumati (83rd), Prashant Jain Bhutoria (125th) and Manoj Pentakota (158th) also put in performances of note.
