There is no poker lover who is not acquainted with Phill “PokerBrat” Helmuth. He has been reigning over the poker world for almost a decade now and has 14 WSOP bracelets to his name. This most recognizable poker player of the world is now again in the headlines after joining YouStake as a brand ambassador and advisor.

Phil Hellmuth

This week, YouStake has officially announced that Hellmuth would join their team not only as a brand representative but also as an advisor.  This 2015-launched online platform claims to be a fully integrated sports crowdfunding platform which allows people to contribute to a poker player’s buy-in for live events and offers a trust-worthy and secure medium to facilitate buying and selling of shares. Thus, YousSake has turned poker action into a tradable commodity.

YouStake’s CEO, and co-founder Frank DeGeorge commented, “I speak for the entire team at YouStake when I say that we have been grateful for the amount of support from the poker community, with notable professionals joining the ranks throughout the years. Phil Hellmuth is our newest team member and we are excited to have him on board. Phil leads the WSOP bracelet all-time list, and we look forward to him offering his tournament action to our users during the WSOP. He brings an enormous amount of positive branding, poker accomplishments, and business experience to our team and we are anticipating continued growth of our marketplace with him on board.”

Apart from representing  and advising the brand, the poker pro would also promote  a number of tournament and cash games on the YouStake marketplace.

15 February witnessed Helmuth’s first listed tournament where he was selling 60% of his action  in the upcoming $10,000 buy-in WPT L.A. Poker Classic. Although he was priced at a whopping 1.5 markup , 72 online investors invested in Helmuth’s $6000 worth of available action, in just 24 hours.

In the later months of 2016,  YouStake had temporarily shut down operations to comply with SEC requirements for registration as a crowdfunding portal with the Financial Industry Registry Authority. Its headquarters was also shifted to LA during this period.  YouStake aims at expanding to into other sports starting with golf tournaments and e-sports, with an eye on mixed-martial arts (MMA), tennis, and rodeo in the future.
