Nick Petrangelo Maintains Lead


Nick Petrangelo [USA] maintained his lead at the top of the GPI Player rankings in May. In doing so, he beat his previous record and is now in his sixth straight week at #1. He is closely followed by David Peters [USA] in second position whereas Fedor Holz [GER] climbed up one place and into 3rd. Bryn Kenney, who was knocked down a position by Holz, rounds up the top 4.

Mercier Leads 2017 GPI Player of the Year

Jason Mercier [USA] meanwhile heads the race to be crowned the GPI Player of the Year for 2017. He maintained his lead at the top in an otherwise turbulent week for the top 10. With the exception of Mercier and Steve O’Dwyer [USA] in 10th, all the other players in the top 10 saw a change in their standings this week.

Timothy Adams [CAN] and Andreas Klatt [GER] were the 2 new faces to make it to the top 15 of the GPI Player of the Year rankings this week.

And Finally…

  •  Davidi Kitai (World #23) returns to the Top 25 following his storn finish in the PSC Monte Carlo Main Event
  • After coming dangerously close to dropping out of the GPI300 for the first time since October 2013 just a few short weeks ago, Max Silver (World #94) has righted the ship, winning a 2K side event at the PokerStars Championship in Monte Carlo
  • 3 former World Top 10’s are back inside the GPI300 this week. Philipp Gruissem (World #212), who is the GPL Berlin Bears Team Manager, makes a comeback. John Juanda (World #213) and former World #1 Daniel Negreanu (World #299) are the other 2 players
  • Congratulations go out to Jimmy Guerrero (World #254), Arne Coulier (World #278) and reigning WPTDeepStacks bestbet Jacksonville Champion Jeremy Meacham (World #290) who all make their GPI300 debut this week
