It is a practice of sportsmen to indulge in some other game apart from their own once in a while. It is said that this indulgence improves the performance of the player. But, Neymar Jr playing poker, during his temporary leave from football due to the metatarsal injury, is not being appreciated both by his team and fans.

The fans and team were agitated owing to the fact that Neymar Jr was busy playing the PokerStars Sunday Million as well as a satellite to the April 22nd $10million GTD Sunday Million when his team was battling in France for the French League Title.

Former FC Barcelona striker Christophe Dugarry was quick to attack Neymar, as he felt that Neymar isn’t committed enough to his new French Club-

“How could Neymar not be there with his teammates with the title at stake?” Dugarry told RMC Sport. “They’ve given him the role of leader and he doesn’t even come to share in the win? How is it possible that PSG can accept that? How can he look his teammates in the eye when he behaves that way? He’s spitting on the club. I think it is outrageous. If he was at Barcelona, he would have returned with no problem.”

Tweeple also didn’t show mercy to this football legend-

Although Neymar’s Instagram picture clearly had the TV, streaming the football match in the background, fans weren’t satisfied with the hint of commitment.

Neymar: Poker and Football

PokerStars signed Neymar in 2016, with an aim to utilize this football legend’s fan following to draw more players to the game and website. He was paid $4million, every year, for this privilege.

However, last year, PokerStars dropped Neymar, Ronaldo and Portuguese namesake Cristiano Ronaldo from their publicity campaigns, replacing them with comedian Kevin Hart and sprint legend Usain Bolt.

For Neymar Jr, the financial hit wouldn’t be felt – his transfer fee from Barcelona to PSG a staggering €222million ($264million) – and he’s not done yet, unhappy at PSG apparently and a move to Manchester United in the offing.
