Raj Kundra reenters the poker platforms all set to host one of the biggest poker events in India. Viaan Industries, promoted by Kundra and his spouse and Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, has come up with the Match Indian Poker League (Match IPL), in association with Switzerland-based International Federation of Poker (IFP). The same was inaugurated in a grand opening function at ITC Maratha Hotel in Mumbai.

The event will assemble teams across eight cities; Ahmedabad Hearts, Jaipur Jewels, Pune Knights, Kolkata Diamonds, Bangalore Royals, Goa Kings, Delhi Aces and Mumbai All Stars, would be going up against each other in on 14th and 15th October 2017 in Mumbai itself.

Viaan Industries had reported that the franchisees would be consenting to a 10-year agreement to purchase the teams and would be paying Rs. 50 lakhs as franchise expenses for the initial year. Additionally, insights with respect to the players who might be taking an interest in the league and the structure of the association are anticipated soon.

Launch of IPL

Harman Baweja, poker player Aditya “Bitti” Agarwal, poker club owner Shammi Karira, Sachiin Joshi, promoters of Radico Khaitan and Living Liquidz are few of the prominent owners of the team.

IFP has likewise reported that the winning team would likewise be representing India in the Poker League of Nations organized by it. “This is an ideal opportunity to put India on the global poker map,” said Kundra. “The winning team here will play as Team India at the World Cup.”

Additionally, an aggregate cash prize of Rs. 3 Crores would be granted to the champions of which, Rs. 1.5 crores would be given to the winning team, Rs. 1 Crore would be granted to the runners up and Rs. 50 lakhs would be granted on the third place.
