Jaydeep Dawer

The winner of the 60 Lakhs GTD PokerBaazi Premier League Main Event needs no introduction. Jaydeep Dawer is well known, and much loved, across the poker diaspora in India. The businessman from Surat has a long and glorious history with the game having previously won many tournaments online and offline. He is also actively involved in the movement to legalise the sport in his home state of Gujarat. He spoke with PokerShots to tell us about his favourite players, biggest fear and more.

Q: Which is your Favourite Hand?

Q: Who is your Favourite Poker Player?
A: In the country I love the playing style of Aditya Sushant. Internationally, it is Tom Dwan.

Q: Which player do you fear playing against the most?
A: Any aggressive fish on his good day is a poker player’s nightmare.

Q: Where in the world do you like to play poker the most?
A: Playing in Commerce Casino, LA has been by far the best experience so far.

Q: Which is your favourite poker website?
A: Has to be The Spartan Poker!!!!

Q: On a scale of 1 to 10, how much would you rate yourself as a poker player?
A: Maybe a 4 or 5.

Q: What is your playing ID and why did you chose it?
A: I play under the id ‘JDBhaiya‘ and ‘Google‘. Being the old man in the circuit that’s the name I am addressed in the circuit so stuck to that online too.

Q: What separates you from other players?
A: My bad play at times (laughs).

Q: What advice would you give to other poker players?
A: I feel a Poker player learns something new everyday and there is no end to this learning process. We can only keep upgrading our skill levels in the process to master the game which actually might not happen in a lifetime.

A: Pepperoni Pizza for now.

Q: Who is your dream date?
A: I can’t disclose that, my wife would kill me!

Q: What is your biggest fear?
A: Being unsuccessful in life.

Q: Tell us a secret that no one is aware of.
A: None I guess. My life has been an open book.

Q: If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?
A: My uncontrollable anger.

Q: What has been your biggest challenge?
A: The biggest is yet to come!
