Just like in other sports, this year, India is being seen participating in various international poker tournaments. Right in the beginning of the year, Kunal Patni represented India in Berlin and few days back, Vinay BK secured the fourth position in the Baby Dragon Event at MPC 2018. Another son of India, Kalyan Chakravarthy, has now returned home after securing the first runner up position at the inaugural Doupai Cup Main Event.

Kalyan Chakravarthy

In total, there were 265 entrants whose entries had smashed the HKD 3 million guaranteed prizepool and raised it to HKD 4,164,210.

The first 27 positions were designated to receive prize money, and Kalyan managed to secure the second position even after much tough competition. He performed fairly well on both Day 1 and Day 2, ensuring that he remained among the top 5 chip stacks.  He played fabulously till the penultimate round of the Final Table and got into a heads-up battle with China’s Chen Guangcheng. Unfortunately, the last hand didn’t favour him enough and he had to pass on the winner’s title to Guangchen. His position brought him prize money amounting to  HKD 790,000 (~₹64.9 lakhs).

PokerShots congratulates him on his fabulous performance and wishes him the very best for his upcoming poker endeavours.
