The third tournament, IOPC Event #34 INR 3 Lac GTD (660 R+A), of Day 7 was taken down by Ashumi Parekh aka ‘ASH1578’. The felt registered a total registration of 588 entries which blew up the guaranteed prize pool to 3,52,800. The top 20 places were paid out a minimum of INR 4,728, each.

It was Level #42 of the tournament when we finally had a winner, with the blinds running at 12,500/25,000 – 2,500. It was Ashumi VS ‘isshhhh’ at the heads-up. Ashumi had 2:1 chip lead over “isshhhh”. Isshhhh went all-in pre-flop with Q-4 and Parekh didn’t hesitate to make the call, with A-10. With the flop opening 7-10-9, Parekh took the early lead with a pair of Tens, but her opponent went ahead with queen pair when the turn opened Q. The river then opened A which changed things again and Parekh took down the title, with two pairs – Aces and Tens.

On her win, Ashumi stated, “I started playing poker just for fun over 12 years ago. Over the last couple of years, I play everyday and am working on my game more seriously. I started with play money poker on PokerStars and Full Tilt. Once I learnt the basics of the game, I moved to real money,” she told us about her introduction to poker. ”

IOPC Event #37 INR 8 Lac GTD (2200 RE)

IOPC Event #37 INR 8 Lac GTD (2200 RE) ended declaring Charan Teja Kattumenu as the champion. He is an IIT Bombay graduate who is currently a Data Scientist, playing under the username ‘charan1001’. He bagged the top prize of  INR 2,00,901. The first runner-up was Vidwath Shetty aka ‘RoronoA’ who bagged  INR 1,33,567 for second place. “charan1001″ was an IOPC champion last year.

On his win, he stated, “ I had played the toughest final table in this tournament. All the players were really good, but I kept my calm and stuck to my strategy. I was able to adapt to other players’ strategies quickly and I think that made the difference. Overall, I am really happy for this win and would be looking to play more tournaments on The Spartan Poker.”
