Goan Nuts got all the reasons to celebrate when they swept the Poker Sports League (PSL)-2 title and a jaw-dropping prize money of Rs. 2 Crore. The Gujarat Falcons emerged as the runner-up taking home an amount of Rs. 90 Lakh. The finale on Sunday witnessed an overwhelming prize pool of Rs. 4.5 Crore.

The Winning Team

Cherishing the moments of victory, this is what team Goan Nuts had to say.

“It gives us immense pleasure to take away the trophy and the prize money home. Our team has worked very hard to earn this title and hopefully will accomplish it every year from now on. We are very grateful to our team captain Dhaval Mudgal who made this dream a reality.”

PSL- In The Winning League

One of the most impressive business tycoons and Dabur scion, Amit Burman is the man behind PSL. This was the second season of the league. The grand finale was hosted at the Deltin Royale Casino in Goa from May 9-13. Online poker operator, Adda52 also promoted the event.

Clearly, PSL is playing an instrumental role in bringing poker to the forefront like any other sport. They are taking the right initiatives to promote poker as a sport, both online and live. The first season of PSL garnered huge success, and this season was no different either.

The Indian poker clan has certainly embraced the league as a chance to showcase their skills and rise to glory. There was no change in terms of format. 11 city-based teams with 110 participating players vying to claim their share from a prize pool of over 3.5 Crore was nothing less than a roller-coaster ride over a period of 5 days.

Expressing his excitement on the success of PSL Season 2, co-founder Amit Burman said, “This season has raised the bar extensively and the game today was a proof that poker is here to stay. We are mere facilitators to give this sport the status that it deserves and establish it as a game of skill, by providing this platform to poker veterans across the globe. I congratulate each of the participating teams who fought hard to get the title and put up a brilliant show here in Goa to culminate Season 2.”

PSL brand-ambassador and Indian Grandmaster, Vishwanathan Anand, was also present to buck up the teams. Applauding the winners, he said, “I would like to congratulate the winning team and all the other teams for being such a sport. Today we witnessed some amazing match where we saw the tables turning with Goan Nuts taking away the glory at the last minute by beating the rest of the teams.”
