During our school life, Republic Day had an added excitement. We attended our school in crisp and clean uniform for the school parade, sang the national anthem in chorus and paid our respect to the National Flag as it was hoisted by our school principal. Republic Day holds sweet memories of our school life. Sadly, as we grow up, the excitement subsides. After we enroll ourselves to adulthood, all we get on this day is a national holiday where we get nostalgic about the Republic Day celebrations during our school life. We basically don’t get a clue as to how to spend the whole day. Here are a few ways in which you can make this Republic Day a memorable one-

  • Attend the Republic Day parade at the Red Fort: If you are a resident of Delhi –NCR, this is one of the best starts to this day. Ditch sleeping till odd hours on this day and be a live witness to the magnificent parade at the Red Fort, presided by the President and the Prime Minister of India. It’s a gala experience to witness our Army, Navy and Air-Force officers, march to the beat of drums in perfect unison, paying their respect to the Indian Tri- Colour, whose respect tops their priority list, all throughout the year. If you can’t attend the ceremony physically, don’t miss out on watching its live telecast on your television.
  • Spend a day of leisure at home: Enjoy a well-earned day of rest at home watching some of your favourite shows on Netflix or Amazon. After a tiring week at work or college, this may just be the perfect weekend to destress.
  • Go out of town on the long weekend: You will not get a better chance to make the most of the first long weekend of 2018. Even with under a week left, you can start making plans to go out of town for a relaxing 3-day weekend. Just don’t forget to stock up on alcohol as Friday is a dry day!
  • Participate in PokerBaazi.com’s “The Moneymaker 3.0”: If you are a poker enthusiast, this plan is your cup of tea. Pokerbaazi.com is back with its 3rd edition of the magnanimous tournament, “The Moneymaker” which starts at 6pm on the 26th of January, 2018. The tournament guarantees a prize pool of 1 crore; the winner and the 1st runner-up would get 30 LAC and 20 LAC, respectively. The buy-in for the tournament is ₹11,000. You can also secure a ticket by winning the daily satellites by investing as little as ₹10. You can also deposit an amount of ₹30,000 by punching in the code “TMMJAN” while depositing to grab your ticket to India’s biggest poker tournament.

These are a few ways in which you can spend your Republic Day holiday, enjoying your heart-out. Happy Republic Day to you in advance!
