World Poker Tour CEO Adam Pliska will continue to head the organization after signing a 4-year extension agreement with parent company Ourgame International Holdings, Ltd.

Pliska said in a press release, “I look forward to building on the successful strategies that have allowed the World Poker Tour to continue to raise the bar of our industry.”

WPT Under Pliska

WPT has witnessed tremendous growth during Pliska’s tenure as CEO since 2009. The company sailed through the rough waters of Black Friday under the able guidance of Pliska and WPT has stood firm and evolved to become one of the most successful gaming and entertainment television shows.

It was under Pliska’s leadership, that the company expanded to 70 events in over 150 countries. The expansion is one of the top priorities of any business and with Pliska leading, WPT is certainly seen to be moving in the direction. At a media forum, right before the WPT Tournament of Champions final table last April, Pliska outlined WPT’s aspirations for “multi-pronged global growth.”

Groundbreaking events in China, Japan, and India exemplify Pliska’s visionary approach.

WPT brought licensed partner WPTDeepStacks into the fold in 2017. It was a step to enable the lower-stakes players, in the $1000 buy-in range, to experience WPT thoroughly. WPT500 series was extremely successful with huge events in the U.S and U.K.

Collaboration with organizations like Zynga Inc and Poker Central reflects Pliska’s farsightedness as a leader and innovator. In addition, major sponsors have spiked company growth, benefiting players manifold.

Pliska also headed the WPT through two major sales – one to for $12.3 million and other to Ourgame for $35 million in 2015.

Aiming to spread the gospel of poker to social gamers all over the world, WPT constantly innovates its PlayWPT and ClubWPT offerings. These opportunities allow players to bag entry into the WPT events.

In the words of Pliska, social gaming is a “commercial for the poker industry” and is critical to the growth of the game. “I believe we have only begun to unlock the full potential of the WPT,” he said.
