The money making industry of the state of Goa, the casinos, are to get a new set of governance rules. The CM of Goa, Manohar Parikar, has assured the House, at the ongoing State Legislative Assembly, which ended yesterday, that he would announce the new governing policy of the casino industry, very soon. The policy would aim at the relocation of the 5 operational offshore casinos off the banks of River Mandovi.

Parrikar said, “In next one week, we will declare the policy to shift the casinos out of River Mandovi. We have already drafted the policy fixing the time frame to remove casinos from the River.”

Goa presently houses five operational offshore casinos and more than six onshore casinos located in five-star resorts.

Despite reservations, Parrikar has committed the relocation of the casinos off the Mandovi banks within stipulated time-frame.

Earlier, the ruling BJP government was alleged to be supporting of the casino industry in the state. But according to the CM, it was Congress that supported the money making business of the offshore casinos, within the state.
