Famous World Poker Tour (WPT) host, Vincent Van Patten collaborates with the WPT to launch his upcoming movie, Walk to Vegas. This movie, a comedy-drama, is based on the true story of Van Patten himself who makes a bet with some rich Hollywood gamblers. Being one of those players who are not very good at their play, Van Patten underlines the case of a candid poker player.
WPT on collaborating with Patten
On the collaboration news, the statement released by WPT says that they were “thrilled” to work with Van Patten because he is the “longest running commentator in poker.” The company would help “to market the film” and hopes to receive much love from both the poker community and the movie audience. The CEO of WPT, Adam Pliska said that he was proud to be a part of the film that has an amazing star cast and also has Van Patten in the ranks.
The released statements haven’t told anything specific about the partnership but WPT would perhaps be marketing the movie during their online events.
About the film
Walk to Vegas features its protagonist, Duke who is a natural risk taker at poker. Due to some unfortunate reasons, he reaches a rock bottom and goes broke. He makes a bet with a poker champion for a million dollars that he would walk from Hollywood to Las Vegas in seven days. This jumpstarts an eventful phase of Duke’s life and the movie has closely depicted the same.
Vincent Van Patten on the film
Van Patten says that movies which honestly show the world of poker often does not go down well with the common audience. Walk to Vegas is a tad different because it is based on the life of a gambler. Therefore, he is keeping himself from expecting too much than required.
He proudly added that the trailer of the movie speaks highly of the storyline and makes the viewer curious. The film has a collection of great actors but not huge names from the film industry, that it clouds viewers’ minds. It also features familiar faces of the poker industry namely, Phil Laak and Jennifer Tilly. The movie is believed to show cameos of famous poker players Mike Sexton and Antonio Asfandiari too.
Vincent on the tie-up
He was head over heels while talking about his collaboration with WPT. He says that making this film was his ‘dream project’ and WPT backing it up is simply a cherry on the top for him.
