Vivek Anand Baskey Marches To The Top of Burn N Turn Event in DPTX 2018, Wins INR 1.55 Lakhs

The inaugural event of DPTX (Deltin Poker Tournament Xpress) took-off at Casino Deltin Denzong housed in Hotel Denzong Residency on Thursday in Gangtok, Sikkim. Synonymous to the calmness required by poker, no other location could have been a better host than Sikkim. Plus, Sikkim is one of the two Indian states that legally allow casino operations.

Casino Deltin Denzong is one of the three casinos currently operational in Sikkim. After being a host to a poker tournament like DPTX, the future of poker in Sikkim seems promising.

The Inaugural Event

The number of entries to this event was significant. There were 56 unique entries along with 14 re-buys and 52 add-ons, taking the total entry field to 122. In the end, it was Vivek Anand Baskey who emerged victoriously and took down the coveted title and a handsome top prize of ₹1.55 Lakhs.

Organized in association with Adda52, this series aims to provide an exposure to talented medium- and low-stakes players. DPTX is mainly targeting the casual players of India.

The Final Table

Final table of the event featured 10 players.

Nima Dawa Sherpa began the final table as the chip leader. The elimination began with Harihar Venkata followed by Rajiv SachdevaVishal Gupta, and Karan Sahwney.

With the five final players remaining, the game grew more intense. One by one, the players fell in the following sequence- Ankit Takle and Cyrus Sidhwa. Sidhwa’s elimination made way for a heads-up battle between Vivek Baskey and Satwik Gupta. Gupta has resorted to an aggressive play to dominate Baskey and was going very well until the last few hands when the former’s aggression came back to bite him.

The final hand saw Baskey’s card 2card 3 against Gupta’s card 1card 2. As the board flipped  card 1card 1card 1card 2card 2, Baskey scored two pairs to take down the Burn N Turn trophy.
