Ivan Leow wins Super High Roller in WPT Korea 2018, bags USD 118,724

The poker fraternity was in for a pleasant surprise last weekend as Ivan Leow took down the Super High Roller event in WPT Korea 2018– thereby running home with a prize of USD 118,724. This event had a buy-in of approximately USD 14,000 and it featured top 20 poker pros like Sparrow Cheung, Danny Tang, Victor Chong, Michael Soyza and Pete Chen.

Leow was awarded a shining trophy for his miraculous feat.

Just for fun

This event was hosted because the owner of the Triton poker brand and Malaysian businessman, Richard Yong had visited the casino to play a high roller game with his friends.

The final Heads-Up that ran for two consecutive days

The action towards the end of the event was running at top speed. The last elimination before the heads-up was that of Michael Soyza in the third place.

Leow started the heads-up with a slightly higher chips count than Pete Chen. But that didn’t demoralise Chen and he gave a tough competition for two consecutive days. However, despite the latter’s lion-hearted effort, Leow went on to win the event.

Another feather in the cap

Ivan Leow now has several coveted titles to his name including the 2018 Oriental Poker Championship’s (OPC), HK$100,000 NLHE High Roller, Triton Super High Roller event at partypoker Millions Russia, Sochi for $1,133,555. He made a deep run in the €25,000 NLHE at European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona for €98,000 (~$114,088).
