WPT Borgata Poker Open Main Event takes the US by storm

The poker fever has returned with a vengeance to the United States with the 16th edition of WPT Borgata Poker Open. This prestigious championship is organized in Borgata, one of the most famous and premier poker hubs on the east coast and its player list includes some of the best in the business. Its Main Event opened this Sunday with a sky-high number of 917 entrants (two flights combined) to swell the prize pool to overwhelm the Guaranteed prize pool of USD 3 million by a mile.

With 8 preset levels for each flight, the opening day closed with 490 players eager to make their mark on Day 2 (Tuesday). Those who got eliminated can rejoin through re-entry and registration is open only to the tenth level.

Gene Quinn zinged to Day 2 with his enormous lead of 328,000 chips- even as his nearest competitor has no more than 250,000 chips! He is going with all his guns blazing in the Main Event too. As per a reliable source, Quinn has had a rollicking 2018 and he has made large strides in the poker world. He had entered the WPT Borgata Poker Open with less than $70,000 in live tournament cashes in his career, but he looks all set to break that barrier now.

WPT.com opines that this WPT Borgata Poker Open has been instrumental in defining the professional careers of noted poker players like Daniel Negreanu and Anthony Zinno. The former had scripted history after winning his first WPT title here and it was his first seven-figure score.

Another kid in the block, Anthony Zinno won his first WPT title here and then he went on to celebrate his happiness by winning two more WPT titles and a WPT Player of the Year honor subsequently.

Please note that the game would be spread across 8 levels, the first two of which shall span 60 minutes while the rest would clock 75 minutes.
