Pokernation makes an exit from the Microgaming’s India Poker Network (MIPN) effective 15th of September 2018.
The company published an official announcement on its website.
“PokerNation has made the decision to part ways with its partner Microgaming, its current software provider. We would be taking a break and discontinue our Poker operations as part of a restructuring process from 15th of September 2018.”
Not So Microgaming In India
With Pokernation leaving Microgaming’s India Poker Network, the international software provider is now left with two operators onboard- Pokeryaar and PokerLion. In March this year, Sachar Gaming Pvt Ltd announced that their poker website called Khelplay Poker will be shutting down operations due to a business restructuring process. It is however known that Mumbai-based Sachar Gaming emerged as the owner of PokerStars India.
The Rise And Fall
In the last few years, there has been a surge in the poker industry in terms of new start-ups. But, it looks like the competition is tough and with veteran players like PokerBaazi, Adda52 and The Spartan Poker in the ring, online poker venture is going to be a hard nut to crack. A lot of new portals have stemmed from the rising popularity of poker in our country but, not many of them have sustained long enough.
This year, the closing spree began with Thrill Poker followed by Khelplay and now, PokerNation. The announcement posted on PokerNation website confirms that the operations will shut down on September 15, 2018. There, however, is no confirmation whether the company will re-launch the website in the near future. According to the post, PokerNation intends to resume services within 90-120 days with their own software. That is something, poker fans will have to let time tell. In the meanwhile, existing players on the aforesaid portal have until 30th September 2018 to withdraw their balances.
