A Record Breaking 1903 Entrants At The EPT Barcelona 2018 Main Event!

EPT Barcelona 2018 smashed its record of previous years yesterday, after registering a whopping 1,903 entrants! Approximately 1,305 competitors joined the fray on Day 1B, making the presence huge! Previously, in 2016, the same event had registered a record number of 1,785 entries. Within 2 years, the event breaks its own record!

The GTD of the event is unknown yet but inferring from the huge number of entries, it is evident that the title winner would be walking back home with a treasure!

The Indian Contingent comprising of poker geniuses like PokerStars India Team Pro and GPL India Delhi Diehards Manager Muskan Sethi along with Abhinav Iyer, Samay Parikh, Charu Vikram Kaushik, Kunal Pinjwani and PokerBaazi Team Pro Abhisek Panda. Unfortunately, Panda had to bid farewell to the felt, empty-handed. But, Sethi (51,200), Parikh (51,200), Kaushik (46,600), Iyer (44,000) and Punjwani (32,000) have managed to reach to the Day 2 of the event.

Belgian’s Anthony Chimkovitch (390,000) has completed the Day 1 B as the chip leader and will be leading the remaining 567 players, on day 2.

Day 1 B Recap

Muskaan Sethi has particularly kept all her fans informed about her experiences at the EPT so far, through her social media handles.

Although Sethi didn’t kick start the day in power, at the end of the day 1B, she amassed a considerable chip stack for herself, confirming her eligibility for Day 2.

She also posted on twitter about a fangirl moment when she met Daniel Negreanu at the event.

Along with Sethi, other Indian players attending the event like Abhinav Iyer, Samay Parikh, Charu Vikram Kaushik and Abhisek Panda have also shown strong performance on Day 1B.

Other international poker stars like Jaime Staples, Daniel Negreanu, Jeff Gross, Andre Akkari, Maria Konnikova etc. were also in attendance. Many notables also got eliminated on Day 1B without making it to cash like Gary Miller, Romain Lewis, PokerStars Team Pro Celina Lin, Joey Weissman, Ari Engel, Martin Jacobson, Felipe Ramos and Matthias Eibinger.

The notables who are continuing on Day 2 with significant chip stack are Renato Kaneoya (190,600), Jack O’Neill (179,400), Nicolas Chouity (173,200), Fernando Pons (161,000), Christopher Brammer(148,600) and Jean Ferreira (130,000).

The 535 survivors from Day 1 B will be facing the 202 survivors from Day 1 A, taking the total number of competitors to 737 on Day 2. The top 3 players at the end would be walking away with a Platinum Pass each. At present, the top 3 chip stack belong to Anthony Chimkovitch (390,000), Ben Wilinofsky (330,000) and Patrick Clarke (321,500).
