Positive signs abound WPT gears up to host Women’s Poker Summit in a few weeks
Caught somewhere between poker’s rising popularity and dwindling numbers of female participants in prestigious tournaments like the WSOP, the World Poker Tour is organizing the Women’s Poker Summit from August 26 this year. The inaugural event kicks off at 2 pm in Bicycle Hotel & Casino’s Dynasty Room and would constitute this year’s WPT500 to be held in Los Angeles.
The Women’s Poker Summit is a brainchild of Angelica Hael, a nominee for this year’s prestigious Hall of Fame. She opines, “one of the WPT’s key responsibilities is to grow the game of poker.” Hael expressed her disappointment about the low percentage of female participation in poker and said, “We want to attract more women, and keep them playing for years and years to come.” WPT has also taken great pains to align the venue and the schedule because the casino is located close to the WPT headquarters itself.
Would you like to be a part of it?
WPT is positive of the summit’s success and has sent out invites to all female poker players, in addition to media, global casino partners and representatives. Please note this iconic ‘women-only’ summit has limited seats left. The coverage and attendance of the event are open for representatives of media houses, casino partners, and even non-related industries. They would, however, need to reserve their place by dropping a mail to the World Poker Tour on email@example.com.
Poker is on a fast lane drive on the way to its acceptance as a skill-based game. It is rising above its stigma even in the most conservative of communities and societies, and women too are becoming a part of this transformation. The end of this first-of-a-kind ‘women’s only’ tournament is to enable the women to see this game from a different perspective over an extended duration of time.
